Bishop’s University, founded in 1843, is a predominantly residential institution. Its primary goal is to offer the foremost undergraduate experience in Canada by focusing on educating the whole person. Bishop’s faculty are accomplished scholars in the areas of humanities, social and natural sciences, business and education.
Located in Sherbrooke, in the Eastern Townships region of Quebec, Canada, the university’s beautiful campus and intimate classes encourage a welcoming, informal atmosphere.
Bishop’s Faculty of Arts and Science offers a wide selection of courses and programs through its three divisions: Humanities, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Social Sciences. Some of the more popular majors include psychology, English, history, neuroscience, sports studies, and pre-med.
Students of the Williams School of Business work towards either a Bachelor of Business Administration or a Bachelor of Arts with a major in business for students who want to combine business with another subject. BBA concentrations offered are accounting, finance, global management and leadership, and marketing and entrepreneurship. Teacher education is a long-standing part of the Bishop’s tradition. The School of Education seeks to develop reflective practitioners with a potential for leadership and a commitment to the transformative power of education. The School also offers a graduate MEd degree for practising teachers and school administrators.
Having enhanced its research profile in recent years, Bishop’s houses one Canada Research Chair, a 3M Teaching Fellowship recipient, and has four clusters of research excellence: astrophysics and cosmology, multi-scale climate change, crossing borders (social and cultural identity), and psychological health and well-being. Many undergraduate students have the chance to work with leading-edge researchers through various projects, internships and various funding opportunities.
