Lakehead University offers a range of undergraduate and graduate programs in 10 faculties – Business Administration, Education, Engineering, Graduate Studies, Health and Behavioural Sciences, Law, Medicine, Natural Resources Management, Science and Environmental Studies, and Social Sciences and Humanities. Students can choose from 38 graduate programs, including seven PhD programs. The university is also a leader in college transfer opportunities with unique post-diploma programs in engineering and many other disciplines. Located just 90 minutes north of Toronto, Lakehead’s Orillia campus offers programs in business, social work, and education along with an interdisciplinary arts and science degree – with majors in criminology, environmental sustainability, and media studies.

Known for its diverse and community-based research, Lakehead holds 23 external and internal research chairs, including 11 Canada Research Chairs and two Ontario Research Chairs. It also houses specialized research centers and laboratories, including the Biorefining Research Institute, the Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Mining and Exploration, the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Research, and the Paleo-DNA laboratory.
