The University of Manitoba offers a diverse range of programs, including bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, and opportunities for postdoctoral education in many disciplines. It also has special access programs for those who do not have the background required for university entrance.
Most first-year students take University 1, a unique and highly supportive approach to first-year studies that allows students to take the specific courses required for their chosen program while ensuring their exposure to courses in several other disciplines.
This past year, the University of Manitoba welcomed 2,400 First Nations, Métis and Inuit students, including more than 200 graduate students. U of M is home to one of the largest Indigenous student populations in Canada. The university’s main campus is nestled by the Red River, about 12 km from downtown Winnipeg. The Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, comprised of the Max Rady College of Medicine and the Colleges of Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy and Rehabilitation Sciences are located in central Winnipeg, adjacent to the Health Sciences Centre, the province’s largest tertiary care complex.
